The onset of invasion forced Zhanna and her partner Denis to move from Kyiv to zakarpattia, to the village.
“Palyanytsia” by Zhanna Kadyrova and Denis Ruban is made of river stone in the Zakarpattia region.
In addition to the usual symbol of Ukrainian traditional bread, palyanitsa has become a sign that helps to unmistakably distinguish friends from enemies.
It became a meme in the first months of the war because the word cannot be pronounced correctly if you are from Russia.

The first exhibition of Palyanytsia, documented on video by Ivan Sautkin, took place in the village of Berezovo in late March.
Later, “Palyanytsia” visited Bucharest, Venice, Berlin, Brussels, Batumi, Tbilisi, Stavanger, Rixtolvan, Paris, New York, and was also exhibited in Brazil and Japan.
